Week 5 Art

Dear Parents,

Because Friday is a pupil free day, I have decided that we will not do Art tomorrow afternoon (Thursday 30 May). I hope this does not put out any wonderful parents who had planned on coming in to help.

Our new Academic Goal for this term is:

Week 4 Update

Hopefully you are aware that a Human Society and its Environment (HSIE) survey was sent home this week? In HSIE we are investigating the topic “The Way We Were” which is all about learning about the past, how things have changed and what has remained the same. So far we have investigated transport and school. If the class remembers one thing, I’m sure it will be that students used to get the cane! And wasn’t it interesting hearing reports of which parents are quite familiar with this particular aspect of school in the past!

Students have been asked to return their survey on (or before) next Wednesday 29th May please. I hope this is not too difficult and most importantly that they have fun finding out some things about the past!

This week and last week our grammar focus in reading and writing activities has been adjectives, and how they can enhance descriptions. Please feel free to see what your child can tell you about adjectives.

Also, it is that time of the year where we are going through boxes of tissues very quickly. Please note that any donations of tissue boxes are always welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Mrs Veronica Robinson

More about busy Term 2

This term we have started our new serial reader, The Adventures of the Wishing Chair Again, by Enid Blyton.  This was chosen after a class vote. It seems many students enjoyed the first of these books read last term, The Wishing Chair.
There are a few students who have their own copy of this book and bring it to the floor to read along  during serial reading time... anyone who has a copy of the book is welcome and encouraged to do this.

In Maths last week we looked at comparing and creating graphs.  Pictured are some graphs that the class created together.
This week we have explored estimating and measuring with 'The Metre'. One activity was for students to compare their handspan with the metre, pictured below.
Next week we are learning about capacity.  To aid in this unit if you have any empty containers, that you do not need returned, (and would otherwise be recycling), could you send them in for next week. It would be appreciated.
